SWAP Structure

The SWAP instrument is a sun observation optical payload in the extreme UV embarked on-board the PROBA-II satellite.

As a subcontractor of CSL, AMOS was responsible for the design, manufacturing and testing of the SWAP instrument base structure, including a door mechanism, and the fabrication and environment testing of the optics (supersmooth finish; Rq better than 0.5nm rms)

SWAP Mirrors & Mounts
SWAP is a small instrument, embarked on PROBA-2 satellite. It is dedicated to the solar observation in the extreme UV.

SWAP records on a daily basis images from the solar corona in that spectral range with the purpose of monitoring its activity and providing the inputs for studying the impacts of this solar region on the Earth environment.

On behalf of the instrument main contractor, CSL, AMOS manufactured the telescope mirrors, which are supersmooth polished in view of an optimal reflectivity in the EUV.

AMOS also supplied the instrument INVAR structure, with the aim to meet the requirements of accuracy, lightweight, stiffness and thermal stability, essential to the system performance.
