CATVAC - Focal 6.5

Vacuum vessel of 400 cubic meters (10m long, 6.5m in diameter and weighting 50 tons) intended for the ISRO ( Indian Space Research Organisation) on the site of Bangalore.

Designed and installed on-site by AMOS, this simulator made at the workshop of ALM (sister company) has required 30 000 hours of specific work appealing to workers from Liège of skills so varied as: the calculation by finite elements, the expertise in high vacuum, the manufacturing in high precision, the joint, the polishing or the fine welding.

Once on-site, this simulator of spatial environment serves for testing satellites and payloads in similar conditions to those met in space. The pressure is 10-6 mbar and the temperature can vary from -100 to +100 C.

 ON FOCUS - Diamond Turning

Advanced Mechanical and Optical Systems (AMOS) manufactures small optical pieces by diamond turning mainly for infrared applications but also, after post polishing, for visible or ultraviolet. Concave or convex mirrors up to 500mm can be machined with extreme asphericities....
