THERMAL SHROUD
1.ISOThermal vacuum testing implies the use of radiative thermal shrouds.
AMOS manufactures shrouds for liquid helium at 4K (-269°C).
These are flat containers made of thin stainless steel sheets to present a minimum thermal load.
These shrouds were used for the tests of the telescope of the ISO spacecraft (Infrared Space Observatory). The thermal hood made by AMOS for the thermal tests of the ISO telescope is composed of two concentric enclosures.
The internal one is made of flat containers filled with liquid helium. The external one is made of the classic panels circulated by liquid nitrogen.
The hood is protected from the radiative transfert from the environment by golden plated kapton. The ISO shroud was design and manufactured following the specifications of IAL Space and AEROSPATIALE.
CUSTOMER : AEROSPATIALE - FRANCE
2.HIPPARCOSAMOS manufactures shrouds in aluminium or in copper (for the measurements of the thermal balance of the HIPPARCOS payload) in which the thermal fluid circulates in pipes welded on the panel.
This system can be operated from the temperature of liquid nitrogen at about - 190°C up to more than 250°C.
The HIPPARCOS shroud system is made of 10 panels working at different and independent temperature.
The HIPPARCOS shroud was design and manufactured following the specifications of IAL Space and MATRA.

3.FIRST
AMOS has also studied and manufactured the shroud FIRST which is used to test the quality of the "FIRST" mirror.
This shroud is manufactured in copper.
The dimensions are: 1 300 mm diameter
3 300 mm lengthAMOS was also responsible for the manufacturing of the general support for the mirror.
This shroud was design and manufactured following the specifications of IAL Space and DORNIER
