Vacuum and Cryogenics
The company handles the design, development, manufacturing and on-site installation of thermal vacuum space simulators.
All the simulators operated by the Centre Spatial de Liege (CSL) were built by AMOS, which also supplied systems to ESTEC, the ESA technical centre, and to the SAC, the technical centre of the Indian Space Research Organisation. Chambers can be any size from 0.5 m to 10 m diameter and up to 15 m in length. Thermal shrouds cover the walls of the chamber to simulate the thermal space environment.
Typical vacuum performances are 10E-6 mbar, while temperatures can be controlled at between 20 K and 400 K, depending on customer specifications. Thermal cycling is also feasible.
AMOS is currently developing a 9 m diameter chamber for Kazakhstan, under contract from Astrium, and a 5 m diameter chamber for the VSSC-ISRO of India.
