project Segmented mirrors for sun simulators

Segmented mirrors for sun simulators

AMOS manufactured segmented mirrors for a sun simulator mirror. A sun simulator is a system that project on a specimen light rays as if they would come from the sun. Rays have to be parallel and emulate the sun spectra and the power to be encountered by the specimen when in space. For large space probes and satellite, the mirros to be used to project those parallel rays shall at least be the size of the specimen.

This project consisted in the manufacture of a large 6m mirror for a solar simulator. The mirror was split into 140 hexagonal segments of about 700 mm. AMOS was in charge of supplying and polishing those aluminium mirrors. Details on this project are confidential.
