Mechanical Workshop
What our mechanical workshop builds.
Mechanics is a
core skill at AMOS.
Our workshops design, machine, assemble and qualify mechanical and optomechanical structures used for astronomy, space, laboratories and industry, delivering instrument-grade structures, tooling and test equipment across our domains.
We design and build large thermal-vacuum chambers and industrial test benches to simulate space conditions and qualify hardware. Our expertise covers vacuum generation, cryogenic systems, thermal panels, and cryo-compatible components, enabling the delivery of optical and mechanical systems fully compatible with these environments.
Custom mechanics. Engineered for real constraints.
Our industrial labs design custom assemblies sized and analyzed for loads, stiffness and dynamic response, with vacuum or cryogenic operation integrated when required.
From fragile optical components to heavy equipment, each system is engineered to maintain predictable behavior and mechanical integrity under defined environmental and operational constraints.
-
Instrument-grade precision
Mechanical parts and assemblies are machined, welded and aligned to tolerance and stability levels compatible with optical instruments and space hardware.
-
Engineered for real constraints
Load cases, stiffness, thermal effects and dynamic behavior are assessed from early iterations so that the final hardware performs as expected in laboratory, observatory or space-related environments.
-
Integrated with the full instrument lifecycle
Industrial labs and design offices operate as a single team from concept to machining, integration and on-site installation when applicable. This ensures that delivered assemblies remain aligned with system-level requirements and metrology constraints.
Our mechanical workshop.
We develop lifting, handling, and positioning assemblies for delicate payloads or measurement probes, including telescope auxiliary equipment, Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE), and dedicated support structures for scientific or industrial environments.
We manufacture precision support structures and integration tooling for instrument assembly and alignment, including fixtures and handling equipment, ensuring systems can be aligned and operated with the required accuracy and stability.
Mechanical &
Optomechanical solutions
We design and manufacture custom assemblies, from single components and complex subsystems to complete systems, engineered to meet defined tolerances, interface conditions and operating environments.
Increasing
Quality & Reliability
From thermal-vacuum chambers to dedicated mechanical jigs and structures, we develop equipment that strengthens qualification processes, improves measurement capability and supports long-term instrument reliability in laboratories and industrial facilities.
Enabling
Customer Success
We work closely with customers’ engineering teams so that every assembly fits existing interfaces, respects project constraints and contributes effectively to scientific, operational or industrial objectives.
